Audubon Teaches Nature

Sunday, May 3rd, 2:00 p.m. ~ Sallie Lee, Guest Speaker (OMIC)

Oak Mountain Interpretive Center

Oak Mountain State Park

The social lives of bees is fascinating to explore. The hierarchy of the hive dictates who fulfills what job, and of course, the queen is, well, the Queen Bee! In addition to the honey they produce, bees also pollinate many of the plants that produce the foods we love to eat: apples, blueberries, cherries, peaches and plums! In recent years, bee numbers have declined and we are in danger of losing these pollinator services. Audubon Teaches Nature is sponsored by the Birmingham Audubon Society, Alabama Wildlife Center, Oak Mountain Interpretive Center and Friends of Oak Mountain State Park.
