News - New Web Site is Under Construction
Sometime this summer BAS will inaugurate a new Web site with a very different look. This Web site has served us well, but it is not an easy site for BAS volunteers to update. The BAS Web Committee has met several times following our January Strategic Planning Retreat and has decided to try out a more modern software concept called "content management software," or CMS for short. With the new site BAS volunteers will be given login and password information, and each person will have responsibility for keeping a certain part of the site updated. The editing of text and adding images is similar to using Microsoft Word, and it does not take special computer skills.

The Web Committee is anxious to try this new technology to see if we can keep our Web site more current and interesting for site visitors. New features will be an on-line calendar, a better photo album, easy editing by BAS volunteers, and some features that will automatically pull news articles to the front page. One day this summer when you visit our Web address, you will find a new look and a site that is hopefully easier to use.

About the BAS Web Site
Welcome to the Birmingham Audubon Society Web site. Please drop an e-mail to the Webmaster if any mistakes are found, or if you have suggestions. Please note! We now store the Flicker Flashes newsletter in "pdf" format. This means you will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer to read these files (most recently-purchased computers have this installed). If you need to install Adobe Reader, it is free on Adobe's site and can be downloaded by clicking here. Beware that the pdf files are large and will take several minutes to download if you connect to the Internet using a modem.
